Co owners of curious… in Hermosa Beach, CA.Bryce Toney is the creator of curious… and Andrew came from a photography background.
We met in the shop and kept work separate until Bryce asked Andrew to start buying the cards for the shop after his card buyer quit. From there Andrew began being involved in the day to day. In 2017 job opening a second location on the island of Kauai, Hi Andrew ran the shop for the most part with Bryce stepping out of the day to day after we adopted our daughter Willow in 2018. In 2020, due to the pandemic, we closed the second location a month into lockdowns knowing it was not going to end that quickly and needed to “pivot” to keep the family biz open. Moved back to Hermosa Beach where we focus on having the one store only now.
Andrew was born in Colorado but for the most part grew up in Northern, NV with 3 other siblings. A short stint as a Mormon which included a Mormon mission after high school in the state of Georgia. Moved to Los Angeles in 2012.
Bryce Toney grew up in Charlotte, NC with three other siblings and a single mom. Bryce held many different types of jobs growing up from working in a pet store to landing in the airline industry which ultimately brought him to Los Angeles. Bryce was involved in a couple other successful business in the Hermosa Beach area through the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Bryce opened curious… in 2009 during the beginning of the recession following the Bush administration to the dismay of his close friends and family saying it was not a great time to start a business.
